Military Academy Nominations

As a Member of Congress, Congressman Riggleman has the distinct honor of nominating candidates to four of the five U.S. Service Academies. Members of Congress can nominate candidates to the U.S. Military Academy (West Point), U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. The fifth Service Academy, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, does not require a Congressional Nomination for an appointment. The honor of attending a U.S. Service Academy comes with the obligation and commitment to serve in the military for a minimum of five years upon graduation.

Congressman Riggleman may nominate up to ten individuals for each vacant academy slot allotted to the Fifth District of Virginia. Applicants are required to open an application directly with each of the U.S. Service Academies they have an interest in attending, as well as, applying to our office for a Congressional Nomination.

To request a U.S. Service Academy Nomination from our office, please complete the Application Packet. For additional information about this process, please review our FAQs.

The application period for Congressional nominations for Service Academies (Class of 2025) will open on April 1st, 2020. This application period will close on October 1st, 2020 at  5 p.m
