Representatives Denver Riggleman and Susie Lee Launch the Bipartisan Veterans Education Caucus
Washington D.C.- Representatives Denver Riggleman (R-VA) and Susie Lee (D-NV) launched the Veterans Education Caucus this afternoon. The representatives led a panel discussion on the issues facing American veterans as they transition out of active duty service and continue their education.
“I am so proud to be a co-founder of the Veterans Education Caucus and excited for its launch this afternoon,” said Rep. Riggleman. “As an Air Force Veteran myself, I know the sacrifices made by are men and women in the Armed Forces and know the quality of their character. This caucus will help veterans transition from active duty into new careers by promoting existing policies to improve student veteran programs and finding innovative ways to support economic opportunity through education in a bipartisan way.”
“The Veterans Education Caucus brings together two of my highest priorities in Congress, improving our education system and honoring and supporting our veterans, said Rep. Susie Lee. “This bipartisan caucus is about working together for our student vets because Congressman Riggleman and I both agree that there should be nothing partisan about improving the lives of our veterans. Our student veterans have the work ethic, drive, and desire to get the best education possible. We just need to make sure they are getting every opportunity to succeed. That is exactly what the Veterans Education Caucus is about.”
The caucus goals are threefold: 1) Promote policies to protect and improve upon our nation’s student veterans programs and raise awareness of education issues for veterans. 2) Find innovative ways to support economic opportunity for veterans through education. 3) Provide tangible, bipartisan solutions to improve veterans’ education and economic opportunity.
